Mrs McGurk has been operating a very successful book club for pupils over lunchtimes over the last few months. Each meeting, the children attend and read together some of their favourite selected books and novels, followed by discussions on characters, plot and writing style. The children are then encouraged to write short reports or create powerpoint presentations to share with each other at the club. This is a really great way to enthuse children to read more not just read better! well done to all the children and to Mrs McGurk for her dedication, innovativeness, passion and enthusiasm! Pupils from Glenann PS, our sister school in the Glens of Antrim, joined us to participate in our intensive CRED funded programme this month based on the theme of Titanic. We have worked hard at building meaningful relationships with the pupils and staff, embracing positive conversation about difference and similarity in cultures, traditions and all the aspects of identity and diversity. This anniversary year has allowed us to benefit from a range of interactive workshops, culminating in this wonderful trip to Titanic Belfast and the latest additional Titanic Exhibition at the Ulster American Folk Park, which we are visiting next week for a residential sleepover. We will have a movie to follow encaptulating all the fun active learning that has taken place, but in the meantime, here are just a few snaps of the day at Titanic Belfast. You can see a short movie of our trip there on youtube by following this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exgAZmE5rgA&feature=share
