Teacher: Mrs L Lawlor

P4 is a busy year; we have lots of fun and exciting things for our P4’s to do!

Our first topic is ‘Houses and Homes’ and we will be looking at our local community, houses in the past, animal homes and houses all over the world. We will also be going to the Ulster Folk Museum to discover more about our exciting topic. We will be having a few visitors in to talk about their role as Estate Agents in our local community.

After Halloween, we will be looking at our topic ‘Let’s Celebrate’ in which we will be looking at different celebrations around the world and how they are celebrated. We will also be making our own New Year Resolutions and discovering the history of why these are made.

Later in the year, we move on to discovering, as well as delving into the unknown on our new topic area ‘Deep in the Jungle’. In this topic we will be investigating where rainforests are located, animals/plants found in the rainforest and how camouflage is used as a way of protection. We will also study tribes and the ways of life in the rainforest and the factors that can cause deforestation. However, this topic won’t be complete without a trip to Belfast Zoo; information will be given out at a later date.

Our last topic will be discovering more about our own ‘Sounds and Senses’ in which we will be taking part in lots of experiments, fun activities and even a visit to the unknown!
