To all members of Glengormley Integrated Primary School Community:
Please take time to consider and respond to the NEELB consultation on Primary School Area Based Plans for Newtownabbey. It only takes a few minutes and your views are really important. I have added my views here and a link to the very easy to complete consultation questionaire. Please take the time to support Integrated Education…. follow this link to access the questionaire –

Happy Easter
Here are our little star pupils from Glengormley IPS – identified by their teachers for a whole range of reasons for the month of March 2013. Well done to all. Happy Easter!
Our resident P7 artist!
This is Ola. She is a P7 pupil who has been recognised for her artistic talents on consistent occasions this year. She was already commended for a fantastic snowman she created with chalk and pastel at Christmas time. This time she was in Corrymeela when she created a beautiful portrait of her friend and class-mate Julia. We thought it was too good not to frame! This was done with pastel on paper. Watch out in the future for this girl’s masterpieces when they go under the hammer at auction!

SNOW UPDATE: Sunday 24th March 13
In prep for tomorrow morning….I have today consulted with local school staff in the area of the school…roads are still treacherous and our premises still deep with snow ….I have also left messages with NEELB to attend soonest in the morning to try to clear some of the snow….but if there is no sign of thaw between now and tomorrow morning and if the situation remains the same or gets worse….it is likely that school will remain closed at least until NEELB can assist with some snow clearance….as with Friday….this would result in school and playgroup closure…we are only in a position to offer reduced daycare to those families who are already booked in due to limited staff availability (local walking staff only)….I will update accordingly with final decision both here on FB, via BBC/CoolFM/Downtown Radio and by text service to mobiles as soon as possible in the morning once on school site….
This is what it is still like in parts of the Glengormley area today at present…..
Here are a couple of photos taken from this week’s local paper….
POLAND TRIP 2013
We have a group of 27 children from P6 and P7 with 8 adults (3 staff and 5 parents/grandparents) travelling to Krakow, Poland in May 2013. In order to help prepare them for this visit, we have uploaded a short Powerpoint slideshow of the itinerary for the days – ie. where and when we are planning to do things.
There will be a meeting after Easter for all attending to answer any final questions and confirm finer details.
All the children are really looking forward to what has always been a wonderful experience that many of them may never get the chance to do again……

Poland May 13
A small group of pupils and staff were cordially invited to attend a lovely International Food Festival at the culmination of Hazelwood Integrated PS’s IIEW2013 week of celebrations. There was a great atmosphere on arrival, mostly due to the wonderful smells from around the globe that hit us as we entered the assembly hall. Children had worked from each class on a focus on particular countries including Poland, USA, Spain, France, Mexico, China and many other cultures. They had dressed a display at a large table which was filled with savoury and sweet foods from their respective countries that the children and their parents had provided or made. Our delegation from GIPS got a chance to sample paella, tiramisu, cavier, perogi and a collection of new tastes to tingle their taste-buds. As usual the children were very well behaved and represented their school fantastically. We hope they enjoyed the short experience and thank HIPS for their generous invitation to be a part of their celebrations today.
