Colin Bateman visits Glengormley IPS

Pupils from P6 and P7 were delighted to experience a very special visitor today in the form of the world famous author Colin Bateman, known for his novels such as Divorcing Jack, Mystery Man and his hit TV series Murphy’s Law.  Colin spend time discussing with children his career history and what inspired him to become a writer as well as the difficulties he endured along the way.  He then read a chapter from his latest novel for children, “Reservoir Pups” which he also had copies of specially signed for the children.  Colin was also kind enough to pose for the local press photographer so expect to see an article in the NT and he even signed copies of parents’ and staff adult novels of his, that were sent in for signing.
We would like to thank his for his time and effort to come and inspire some of our pupils here in P6 and P7 about success in writing.
Here are a few of our own photos from the visit.

As this project draws to a close this year, we hope that the friendships and opportunities continue.  Where there’s a will, there’s a way…….

My NameTags help GIPS PTA

“My Name Tags” offers a way of helping raise funds for our school PTA
If parents order name tags for uniforms through My Name Tags and input the ID 51436 when ordering, it will kill 2 birds with one stone – uniforms clearly labelled and money raised for the school.

Well done to all the 20 parents and staff members involved in descending the Europa Hotel on Sunday 15th May 2011 on behalf of the PTA.  Each abseiler had to raise sponsorship in order to participate and all funds raised will be added to the PTA funds for the school.  Here are a couple of pictures from the day.  There are lots more on our school gallery page at https://picasaweb.google.com/glengormley/PTAEuropaAbseil#
