Each class this week made a little person to add to a school family. Within each person, children in the classes thought about people and things that they loved, and ideas of what they would like to be, know and do to be more integrated. Teachers and pupils in each class shared their thoughts about Integration, what it is, what makes us different in our school to others and why it’s so important to us.
Here is the collection of children from Glengormley IPS that we made from P1-P7 this week. Each is unique like the children in our school.
4 Primary 7 pupils travelled to Parkhall IC in Antrim today with Mr Arnold, to share in an art workshop with pupils from 3 other neighbouring Integrated Primary Schools. The staff hosting them had the children involved in making a large banner focussed on the theme this year of “Hearts & Minds” which will take pride of place in the school assembly hall next to the large kite our pupils were involved in making last year.
The children had fun mixing with their peers from other schools whist stimulating their own minds about “what is Integration?” and “what makes it different to other schools?”

Glengormley Footballers take 2nd Place!
Our little football team took second place runners-up last week in a Newtownabbey Tournament held at the Valley Leisure Centre.
We were going really strong through all the games until we met our rivals Carnmoney PS in the last game. Unfortunately on this occasion, things did not go our way! The boys played really well and were commended on their team skills, individual skills and spirit.
We won two games, drew two and lost the final one. We scored a hatful of goals along the way and had a lot of fun.
Here are some clips from the events to see how well they played.

P5 this week participated in the first week of Pilot experiences for primary school children in Northern Ireland, making use of C2K’s latest software addition to the school managed service. We are now able to net-conference using webcam technology via our interactive whiteboards to share experiences and converse with many other people in other parts of the world. On this occasion the children were presented to by the Education Officer from Belfast Zoo, who shared video, and real-time live animals and mini-beasts, broadcasting live from the NEELBTV’s “The Truck” mobile broadcasting studio. John the education officer was linked up with 6 schools in total, of which GIPS was one and the children were encouraged to participate by asking questions and listening to answers. The whole experience was reasonably successful, but for a few technical glitches, but it certainly demonstrated the potential to all involved of what great tools are now available for future collaborative use with staff and pupils. Well done to all involved! We will be getting further opportunities to work again with C2K to promote this new facility around the country.
