The Twinning of the Glens.

The little people from the Glens of Gormley and the Glens of Ann are working together on a literacy project this TITANIC anniversary year, 2012.  Watch out for some fabulous creative writing.  This is just a little bit to wet your appetite and get the children motivated!

Since Valentines Day falls next week during our 1/2 term break from school, we decided to hold a non-uniform / Red themed Valentine Disco today.

Here are some video clips of our kids having lots of fun dancing to the music  and playing games with Avril “1stforfun” our resident DJ!

P6 get a Titanic visit from local author, courtesy of CREDNI

This week, children from Primary 6 were visited by Susie Miller, a well known local author of such novels as “The 2 Pennies”.  Susie is an active member of the Titanic Society and has personal and professional links with the great ship.  She helped the children in a workshop, see how writers can meld fact and fiction together in a literary work.  The programme was sponsored through funds secured by school, along with Glenann Primary School in Cushendall, from the Government’s Community Relations, Equality and Diversity Northern Ireland Policy.  We hope to continue with learning opportunities throughout this academic year, including a residential visit to the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh, to continue the studies of Titanic in this the 2012 100th Anniversary year of the tragic sinking.
